Boat and Boat Cover Maintenance
Our skilled staff can repair tears and seams in your boat's upholstery as well as provide replacements and clean hulls, pontoons, upholstery and carpet. We also do canvas repairs of all kinds and waterproofing.Here are some tips for keeping your boat cover clean:
Canvas/Polycotton Covers
- Brush dry with medium-soft bristle brush
- Use clean tap water with soft brush
- Wash with tap water from hose using spray nozzle
- DO NOT use solvents, soaps or detergents
- DO NOT put into dryer, air dry only
Sunbrella Covers
- Clean regularly to remove excessive dirt
- Brush off any loose dirt and rinse with warm water
- Use a mild natural soap solution (Lux or Ivory in lukewarm water)
- Rinse thoroughly to remove soap, do not use detergents
- Do not put into dryer, air dry only
Aqualon Covers
- Keep dirt, leaves and other debris from accumulating
- Wash down with garden hose about once a month
- To remove dirt, use soft brush and mild soap solution
- Do not use bleach, rinse thoroughly with clear water and let air dry before storing
- Do not store or roll up when wet
- Avoid cleaning in commercial car wash, do not steam or pressure wash
- Do not put into a dryer, air dry only
Do's
- Rinse cover occasionally with low pressure water
- Remove sticks and debris from covers
- Repair tears as soon as possible
- Follow manufacturer cleaning and waterproofing instructions
Don'ts
- Don't store cover when wet or dirty
- Don't let water or snow stand on cover
- Don't use abrasive cleaners
- Don't use high pressure water when cleaning
- Don't put into a dryer, air dry only
